Auburn welcomed the multinational cast of Up with People and their latest production, Voices.

The cast and staff of 100 represent 20 countries.

Up with People’s live two-hour performance – set for 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Auburn Performing Arts Center – includes original and popular music and features a dynamic blend of soloists, full-cast production numbers, fast-moving choreography and colorful costumes.

The cast arrived in Auburn on Monday, where they were led to the Auburn Avenue Theater via a police escort and later welcomed by Mayor Pete Lewis before meeting their host families.

While in Auburn, the cast members are staying with host families to build personal worldwide awareness and connections. The cast will participate in a community service project for Auburn Youth Resources (AYR) to finish painting, grouting, cleaning and preparing a house that will be used as a youth homeless shelter. The AYR service project will take place Tuesday.

The weekend show features medleys of popular music representing “voices” of the radio, video and digital generations, as well as a medley of international music from Asia, the Americas, Europe and Africa. Woven throughout the show are original Up with People songs, tying the theme of the show together and showcasing the hope personified by the international cast of 100 performing together.

Up with People’s visit to the Seattle Area is sponsored by Northwest Area Rotary Clubs, including Auburn’s, and supported by local media sponsor The Seattle Times. Up with People is a nonprofit international global education and community leadership program for young people ranging in age from 17 to 29.
