Auburn’s Team Xtreme seek help to fund state tourney trip

The District 10 champion Auburn Little League U12 Xtreme all-star fastpitch team will begin play in the Washington Little League Softball State Tournament July 5 in Oak Harbor. The team is seeking financial help to defray the cost of the trip, which includes several nights of hotel stay.

The team is seeking financial help to defray the cost of the trip, which includes several nights of hotel stay.

The team has started a GoFundMe campaign at http://www.gofundme.com/aviiho to help raise money.

The Xtreme captured the title and punched it’s ticket to the state tournament with a 19-4 win in the title game against a split squad made up of Kent, Fife, Milton and Edgewood (Kent/FME) players. The win was the Xtreme’s second over Kent/FME in the five-day tourney, which was held at the Federal Way National ballfields.

Auburn also defeated Federal Way Nationals/Soundview in the tourney, compiling a 3-0 record.

The Xtreme are managed by Pat Padero, with coaching by Jerry Nipert and Daren Stober.

The team includes: Kiana Adams, Lynneti Aumua, Samantha Berg, Hailey Browne, Savannah Dozier, Kyla Longmire, Grace McCreery, Gina Nipert, Sydney Padero, Emma Podliska, Charity Sevaaetasi and Rebecca Spear.

The 2014 Washington Little League Softball State Tournament gets underway on July 5 at Volunteer Fields in Oak Harbor. The tournament concludes on July 11. Auburn plays their first contest against the winner of the District 4 tournament, which includes teams from the Vancouver, Washington area, at 2:30 p.m. July 5 on Volunteer Field 1.
