AugustFest coming to the park, downtown on Aug. 13

It's AugustFest – formerly known as Auburn Days – comes to downtown and Les Gove Park on Saturday, Aug. 13 for a full day of entertainment and food, arts and crafts, a parade and car show.

It’s AugustFest – formerly known as Auburn Days – comes to downtown and Les Gove Park on Saturday, Aug. 13 for a full day of entertainment and food, arts and crafts, a parade and car show.

The City of Auburn assumed coordination of the festival after Connie Henke, the Auburn Days’ longtime coordinator and community advocate, retired last year. The new festival blends pieces of Auburn Days with parts of a new festival in Les Gove Park.

THE LINEUP

• Summer Stride, 6 p.m., Friday, Aug. 12, Les Gove Park

A 5K fun run held in conjunction with the Summer Sounds & Cinema concert and outdoor movie at Les Gove Park. The chip-timed run is flat, easy and fun for all ages. Sponsored in part by Auburn Sports Physical Therapy. Register online.

• Auburn Days Parade, 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, Main Street, downtown Auburn

The parade will feature a variety of marching bands, drill teams, dancers, one-of-a-kind cars and other entries. The one-mile parade route travels west along Main Street from E Street Northeast to A Street Northwest.

• Community festival, 11 a.m.-8 p.m., Aug. 13, Les Gove Park

AugustFest will include two entertainment stages; a beer garden; food vendors; craft and specialty vendors; community and nonprofit vendors; a zip line, inflatables; a rock-wall; a train; pony rides; mini golf and other activities. Les Gove Park also includes a playground, a spray park, and the new Community & Event Center and Teen Center.

A $10 wristband provides unlimited access to nine inflatables, tubs o’ fun, a four-person gyrotron (open 11:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m,), as well as a rock-wall, a train, a pony ride and mini golf. Pre-sale wristbands at $5 are available online through noon Aug. 12). Additional fees are required for zip line experience and vendor related activities.

• Commemorative Car Show, noon-5 p.m., Aug. 13, Les Gove Park

A fun show for antique, classic, hot rod, street rod, muscle and unique cars. Awards in 15 categories. Free dash plaques for the first 100 to register.
