Auburn Youth Resources, in conjunction with Enumclaw Youth & Family Series, will tee off its 15th annual benefit golf tournament next Thursday at Washington National.
The 18-hole, four-man scramble will open with lunch at 12:30 p.m., followed by a shotgun start at 1:30. Dinner is 6 p.m.
There will be prizes award for longest drive, closet to the pin and hole-in-one. The program also will include a silent auction.
“This has been a very nice community event,” said Jim Blanchard, executive director of Auburn Youth Resources. “We try to make it fun and enjoyable.”
The event is a major fundraiser for the AYR agency.
The tournament has grown in stature over the years. It raised more than $14,000 in its inaugural year, 2002, reaching a record $47,984 in 2007. But the sagging economy has taken a bite out of recent donations.
The success of the tournament can be traced to its many supporters, notably primary sponsor Universal Refrigeration and longtime backers Charles Poe of Poe Construction and Gary Venn of Utility Vault. Poe and Venn serve as tournament co-chairmen.
A field of 128 players is expected.
Registration is $125 per person, $500 for a foursome.
