Runner, joggers and walkers weathered soggy conditions Saturday to participate in the Barktoberfest and Rover Romp 3K and 5K fun walk/run – the Auburn Valley Humane Society’s fourth annual fundraising event for homeless and abandoned animals in the community – at Roegner Park.

The event included prize drawings, a pet costume contest, vendors, demonstrations, entertainment and food.

The AVHS provides shelter, quality care and love for all the lost, mistreated and abandoned animals in Auburn. It uses every available resource to ensure that each animal is placed into a loving and forever home and promotes responsible pet ownership through education and outreach.
