A “Buddy Holly” concert, a benefit for 10-year-old Cullen Steele, will be held Friday night at the Auburn Avenue Theater.
Proceeds from the concert will go to Cullen and the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA). Cullen, a fifth-grader-to-be at Auburn’s Holy Family Catholic School, faces a possible double-lung and heart transplant because of pulmonary hypertension.
To help Cullen’s cause, Don Stevenson, Auburn’s 74-year-old ultra-walker, walked 1,200 miles around the state of Washington to raise awareness and money. Stevenson began his journey from City Hall on July 6 and is scheduled to arrive at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the theater to greet Cullen, his family and supporters.
“Cullen’s a great kid, and has a lot of promise to be a blessing to others in his young life,” Stevenson said.
The ticket booth will open at 6 p.m., the doors at 7:15, followed by presentations, entertainment and a raffle.
Tickets are $25 and can be purchased at the box office or by calling 253-200-5905.
