Dave, one of two goats Scarff Ford keeps to check the progress of grass around a detention pond, was recently a crime victim.
Jeff McLaughlin, Scarff’s sales manager, said that on the evening of April 31, vandals sprayed the number 13 on a company truck then, eager for more mischief, coaxed the trusting beast to the fence of his enclosure and sprayed his ear and right side with blue paint.
McLaughlin said that whatever message the goat sprayers intended to convey could not be deciphered and has now faded.
Dave and his companion goat, Tom, who was spared the indignity, are named for Scarff’s general manager and its used car manager.
