The Seattle Seahawk’s mascot Blitz and a Sea Gal helped kicked off the Fuel Up to Play 60 (FUTP60) program Tuesday morning at the Performing Arts Center.
The Dairy Farmers of Washington and Seattle Seahawks sponsor FUTP60, a school nutrition and physical activity wellness program, throughout the state. The program encourages students to make healthier food choices and be physically active for at least 60 minutes each day.
This year, 14 Auburn elementary and middle schools were funded through FUTP60. The funding provides new physical education equipment and implementation of a smoothie program to ensure students start their day with a healthy breakfast.
“Dairy farmers in Washington are proud to be a part of Fuel Up to Play 60,” said Michelle Schilter, chair of the Dairy Farmers of Washington Board. “Dairy farmers produce delicious, healthful products that kids love. We are excited to celebrate the importance of dairy nutrition in students’ lives in a fun and positive way that instills healthy eating habits.”
