Boy severely injured in bike accident | Fire blotter

Between Aug. 20 and Aug. 25, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 311 calls for service, among them the following:

Aug. 20

CPR: 9:38 a.m. (Auburn). The partner of a man who had collapsed at home called 911, which instructed him to start CPR. When firefighters arrived, they assessed the situation, and confirmed the man was unconscious and in the throes of a cardiac event. King County Medic One paramedics and firefighters continued resuscitation efforts, and after several rounds of CPR, the man regained a pulse and started breathing. While Medic One was transporting him to a local hospital, the man regained consciousness.

Commercial vehicle fire: 8:37 a.m. (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters responding to a recreational vehicle fire found a fully involved camper trailer and flames spreading to a second RV. Firefighters quickly stopped the fire from extending to the second RV, preventing further damage, and extinguished the main fire in the camper.

Aug. 21

Aid call: 9:46 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters examined a young girl who was coughing up blood, and TriMed hustled her off to Seattle Children’s Hospital in stable condition.

Aug. 23

Aid call: 9:23 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated an elderly man at a local assisted living facility who was weak and not eating, and then a private ambulance transported him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.

Aug. 24

Accident: 9:10 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a five-vehicle accident on southbound SR 167 controlled traffic and managed the vehicles. No one was injured, no one required transportation to a hospital.

Aug. 25

Aid call: 6:51 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated and treated a boy who had crashed his bike, suffering multiple injuries. Firefighters took spinal immobilization steps as a precaution, and a private ambulance transported the kid to a local hospital for further care.
