The campaign to raise funds to pay for organ transplant-related expenses for Cullen Steele recently celebrated its one-year anniversary by reaching its $75,000 goal.
To date, the community has raised $79,000.
Cullen, an 11-year-old Kent boy and Auburn student, has pulmonary hypertension, and requires a heart and double-lung transplant.
Local volunteers, with help from the Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA), organized the campaign.
The Steele family is grateful to all those who supported the campaign.
The goal of the campaign now is to raise $10,000 annually to replace money the Steele family draws from the fund to pay for Cullen’s medical expenses.
Donations may be made in person at any Wells Fargo Bank branch location using account number 3523561722 or mailed to the Children’s Organ Transplant Association, 2501 West COTA Drive, Bloomington, Indiana, 47403.
Checks or money orders should be made payable to COTA, with “In Honor of Cullen S,” written on the memo line of the check. Secure credit card donations also are accepted online at www.COTAforCullenS.com.
