Children and driver unhurt after school bus collides with power pole

Valley Regional Fire Authority closes 132nd Avenue Southeast, police piecing together what happened

All 38 children and the bus driver were unhurt after a school bus struck a power pole near 29205 132nd Avenue SE at about 3:56 p.m., Wednesday, and power lines dropped onto the bus.

The children on the bus were kindergarten through fifth-grade students Arthur Jacobsen Elementary School in the Auburn School District.

The Valley Regional Fire Authority, along with the Kent Fire Department and the Auburn Police Department responded to the incident.

The students and driver were kept inside the bus until Puget Sound Energy could arrive to secure and de-energize the power lines. At the time of this release, students were being unloaded from the bus and loaded onto a new bus for transport to their regular bus stops. Parents have been asked not to come to the scene.
