Chinook Elementary awarded Boeing’s John D. Warner Award for Educational Excellence

Chinook Elementary School is one of only two Puget Sound schools to be awarded the John D. Warner Award for Educational Excellence sponsored The Boeing Company.

Chinook Elementary School is one of only two Puget Sound schools to be awarded the John D. Warner Award for Educational Excellence sponsored The Boeing Company.

The Auburn school was recognized as runner-up for:

• Significantly raising student achievement.

• Involving parents and community members in improving student achievement.

• Providing excellent leadership for teachers and staff.

Boeing Co. representatives organized a surprise visit to Chinook to present the award. The award includes a $25,000 grant for five teachers to attend the U.S. Space & Rocket Center’s Space Camp in Huntsville, Ala., in July.

The award as established to honor Warner, who retired from his position as senior vice president and chief administrative officer of The Boeing Co., in July 2002 after 34 years of distinguished service. The award recognizes Warner’s longtime and continuing dedication to reforming public education.
