Teresa Millard’s resourceful kindergartners at Chinook Elementary School are filling a school bus to fight hunger.

As part of a district-wide food drive that began Feb. 25, Millard’s class of 20 strong came up with the idea to Fill The Bus, a classroom competition for students to pack a small bus parked on campus full of nonperishable food and hygiene products.

The drive has been a rousing success. Millard’s class brought in more than 1,070 items after four days of donations.

The drive, which ends Friday, supports the Auburn Food Bank.
