Experience the joyful use of vibrant colors and evocative forms, both recognizable and abstract, in the paintings of Renton artist Billie Andrew and Tacoma artist Sharon Carr.
An exhibition featuring their work will be on display at Auburn City Hall throughout the month of April. The exhibit will be open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, April 1-30.
Andrew’s acrylic collage paintings are soft with bold colors that include abstraction with traces of recognizable forms. Working with acrylic paint and homegrown techniques of rubber cement resist, Andrew’s describes her paintings as “an outer expression of some inner need to put something beautiful into this dimension”.
Carr’s oil paintings are attentive to detail yet a maintain an impression of reality. Flowers, trees, and color-dappled koi fish are deftly represented and her inspiration from nature apparent. Carr notes that “painting helps me to be attentive to beauty, a spiritual imperative that I feel now in my mid-60s.”
Auburn City Hall is located at 25 W. Main St. Admission is free.
