The Auburn Garden Club brought a wide variety of colorful and imaginative displays to the Senior Activity Center for its annual two-day flower show, “Step Into Spring.”
Proceeds from the show’s raffle sale benefitted the Tahoma National Cemetery, which is undergoing repairs from vandalism.
The flower show presented 155 pieces of horticulture, 36 floral designs, eight crafts and two educational displays.
Tanya Galat’s presentation, “Small Treasures,” was one of the award winners. Her brief educational display of miniature conifers earned the Carol Klingberg Award, which gives Galat the opportunity to apply for state honors.
The garden club of 45 members welcomes new members. The club meets on the second Tuesday of each month at 10 a.m. at the senior center, 808 Ninth St. SE.
Among club activities are program meetings that cover a wide range of topics, along with flower arranging, conservation, wildlife, tour of local gardens, flower show competitions and other events.
Auburn is a member of the Chinook District, Washington State Federation of Garden Clubs and the National Garden Club.
