Community is all in for Avery

The campaign to help 6-year-old Avery Huffman’s battle against cancer continues this weekend with two events Saturday.

Proceeds will help the Huffman family cover medical costs for Avery, who has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor.

Running for Avery begins at 10 a.m. at Roegner Park, 601 Oravetz Road SE. The Regional Valley Fire Authority will be on hand for the benefit run. The Calvary Chapel South, a worship band led by Joe Monto, performs.

Monto, whose son attends Lakeland Hills Elementary with Avery, is donating a portion of the digital market sales of his single, “Fill Me Up”, which he wrote with Philemon I. Ackon.

Also Saturday, the #AveryStrong Auction runs from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Lakeland Hills Community Center, 5801 Lakeland Hills Way SE.

Tickets, which  are $25 per person before the event, and $30 at the door, provides two drink tickets and food. Additional drink tickets may be purchased at the event. Credit cards, checks and cash are accepted at the event, which will feature a silent and live auction.
