Multiple Auburn residents suffered injuries on Feb. 7 in a three-vehicle collision in Federal Way.
First responders and family transported an Auburn driver and passengers to MultiCare Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital following the crash. According to the Washington State Patrol, the 41-year-old driver and passengers — a 15-year-old girl and 3-year-old girl — all suffered injuries in the collision.
Police investigation into the cause of the crash continues, with law enforcement examining potential charges for a 29-year-old man from Tijuana, Mexico, according to the state patrol.
According to the state patrol, the 29-year-old’s vehicle was traveling northbound on Interstate 5 approaching State Route 18, when it struck the vehicle containing the Auburn residents after the vehicle slowed for traffic.
The Auburn residents’ vehicle struck a third vehicle after the initial impact and arrived at a stop in lane two of five, facing southbound.
Neither the 29-year-old Tijuanan driver nor the driver of the third vehicle, a 49-year-old Enumclaw man, received injuries in the incident.
The collision totaled the Auburn residents’ vehicle, the 49-year-old’s vehicle, and a tractor associated with the 29-year-old’s vehicle, according to the state patrol.
The collision resulted in roadway closures for seven hours and 54 minutes.
