DETOUR:

The King County Road Services Division will be replacing a culvert underneath Kent-Black Diamond Road south of Covington next week that could result in a lengthy detour for motorists. The road will be closed in the 30000 block from 7 a.m. Monday, June 23 through 4 p.m. next Saturday. Motorists commuting through the area can detour via State Route 18 and the Auburn-Black Diamond Road. During the closure, crews will be installing a larger culvert under the roadway in that location. The existing aging culvert has cracked and deteriorated to the point where water is leaking into soil – undermining both the roadway and the road shoulder. If the culvert is not replaced, the road could collapse.
