The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to many 911 calls for service between Dec. 30 and Jan. 5, among them the following:
Dec. 30
Accident: 5:40 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a two-car collision that occurred when an occupant of one vehicle who was trying to flee the scene was struck by a second vehicle, injuring the fleer’s knee. Firefighters treated a second person for a head laceration the person had suffered during the initial collision. Two people were transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
Dec. 31
Aid call: 8 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters treated a man with multiple leg fractures he suffered while servicing his semi-truck. Firefighters and paramedics treated the man on scene before transporting him to Valley Medical Center for further care.
Jan. 1
Car vs. pedestrian: 5:01 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated the pedestrian half of a car vs. pedestrian accident. King County Medic One paramedics treated the pedestrian and transported the person to Harborview Medical Center for further care.
Jan. 2
Aid call: 6:14 p.m. (Algona). Firefighters responding to a woman in emotional distress reassured and supported the woman, who was already enrolled in the VRFA CARES program with an existing care plan. After firefighters had reinforced the goals of the woman’s continuing care plan, she remained at home under the care of an onsite provider.
Jan. 3
Natural gas leak: 7:15 p.m. (Lea Hill)). Firefighters responding to a natural gas leak in a residential neighborhood identified and secured the source of the leak with help from Puget Sound Energy.
Jan. 4
Aid call: 10:42 am. (Auburn). Firefighters assessed a woman with hip pain resulting from a fall, and a private ambulance transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.
Jan. 5
Aid call: 12:01 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters used oxygen to treat a man who was suffering from Respiratory Syncytial Virus, and Tri-Med Ambulance transported him to MultiCare Covington.
