Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan joined King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer’s November Good Eggs breakfast at Twin Lakes Golf Club in Federal Way on Wednesday.
Durkan discussed the ongoing growth that that region faces, along with the importance of collaboration and community building as jurisdictions work together to address our shared challenges.
She also discussed her office’s work to address homelessness, which has been the No. 1 issue she has faced in her two years in office. The mayor pledged to continue working together as a region because there are regional issues such as traffic and homelessness can only be solved through collaborative effort.
Durkan discussed some of her initiatives such as low acuity/non-emergency 911 calls, an emphasis on expanding “enhanced shelters,” which provide 24-hour wrap-around services, and the need to increase the affordable housing supply in the City of Seattle.
