A family of three was uninjured after their car caught fire and rolled toward a building at approximately 9 a.m. Tuesday in the 600 block of Auburn Way South.
Valley Regional Fire Authority Firefighters responded to a report of a car fire in the parking lot of a vacant building, formerly an auto parts store. A bystander called 911 when he saw flames coming from the engine of an older model Toyota four-door sedan.
The family – a mother, father and child – had escaped the vehicle when firefighters arrived to extinguish the fire. There were no injuries.
The heat from the vehicle fire caused minor heat damage to the building and cracked five windows and the glass entry door, the VRFA said.
The fire is under investigation.
