Auburn’s Dwight Clark, the Western Washington University student who drowned in Bellingham Bay in September, had an alcohol level of 0.13 and marijuana in his bloodstream, according to the final autopsy released Wednesday by Whatcom County medical examiner Gary Goldfogel.
There was no evidence of trauma.
Clark, 19, a freshman at WWU, went missing after attending an off-campus party in Bellingham on Sept. 26. Ten days later, on Oct. 6, Clark’s body was discovered in the bay.
After an initial autopsy, Goldfogel determined that “there were no signs of inflicted trauma” on the body, and Clark was likely in the water the entire time he was missing.
Bellingham Police Chief Todd G. Ramsay said in a statement that the case is closed based on the autopsy results.
“The tragic accidental death of a bright and vibrant young man has had a tremendous impact on our community,” Ramsay said, “but it is with Dwight’s family and close friends that we send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers.”
