Fire alarm at elementary school | Fire blotter

From the Valley Regional Fire Authority.

Between Feb. 24 and March 2, 2025, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to the follow 911 calls for service, among many others.

Feb. 24

Aid call: 3:34 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a woman who was found pulseless and not breathing after suddenly losing consciousness while at home. Firefighters and King County paramedics restored the woman’s pulse after approximately 20 minutes of CPR, and transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for continued care.

Feb. 25

CPR: 4:02 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medic One responded to reports of an unresponsive man in a vehicle. Firefighters arrived to find bystanders performing CPR and took over life-saving efforts. Personnel stabilized the woman, and paramedics transported her to local hospital.

Aid call: 4:07 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to reports of a teenage girl with a leg injury from a motor vehicle collision assessed and treated her before a private ambulance transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center.

Automatic fire alarm: 10:17 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a smoke alarm activation at a local elementary school. Firefighters arrived to find the alarm indicating smoke in the kiln room. They discovered the kiln was overheating and shut off power to the unit. Firefighters worked with staff to secure the area and ventilate. Staff remained on-site to monitor the kiln as needed.

Feb. 28

Motor vehicle incident: 11:56 a.m. (Pacific). Responding to power lines down, firefighters arrived to find communication lines down and a utility pole broken, creating a potential hazard for power lines. They controlled traffic and asked police to investigate the incident. Witnesses reported that a semi-truck with a trailer snagged the wires, causing damage. The truck’s occupants briefly exited, assessed the situation, then backed out, further damaging the pole. The scene was turned over to City of Pacific workers and police for further investigation.

March 1

Brush fire: 4:07 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a brush fire along the highway, and after finding a slow-moving grass fire, quickly deployed an attack line to extinguish it. They also used hand tools to create a firebreak around the perimeter.

March 2

Aid call: 5:12 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to man who’d injured his right arm attempting a trick on his scooter. The crew evaluated the man and provided care before a private ambulance hustled him to Auburn Multicare.
