Between Jan. 31 and Feb. 6, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 270 calls for service, among them the following.
Jan. 31
Aid call: 9 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a man who was having a seizure after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. Investigation revealed the man had fainted because he was afraid of needles. He declined further aid.
Feb. 1
Aid call: 6:36 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a woman who was complaining of chest pain, and they determined her pain was caused by choking. She was transported to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further evaluation.
Feb. 2
Accident: 2:57 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a two-vehicle accident with one occupant trapped. They got the guy out, treated both drivers on the scene and then transported them to MAMC.
Illegal burn: 11:51 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters hustling to a brush fire at the intersection of 15th Street Southwest and the Interurban Trail found and extinguished an unattended cooking fire that had extended to nearby combustibles.
Feb. 3
Aid call: 6:30 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and King County paramedics responded to a report of an unconscious male who had fallen. They treated him, and a private ambulance transported him to MAMC for further care.
Feb. 4
Accident: 7:31 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters treated a man involved in a single-vehicle rollover accident on westbound Highway 18 for injuries and transported him to St. Francis Hospital.
Feb. 5
Car vs. pedestrian: 2:15 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a senior citizen who had been hit by a car and was lying on the ground, complaining of shoulder pain. TriMed ambulance transported the woman to a local hospital.
Structure Fire: 10:33 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a “minor fire” at a mobile home arrived to find that the fire had extended to the structure. So they extinguished it, completed a search and mechanically ventilated the structure. After they’d treated the resident for smoke inhalation, a private ambulance transported that person to MAMC.
Feb. 6
Illegal burn: 3:52 a.m. (Pacific). Firefighters who’d been dispatched to investigate a report of an illegal burn in the parking lot of a convenience store near the Outlet Collection Mall found a small cooking fire without exposures and extinguished it.
