The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 159 calls for service between Nov. 23 and Nov. 29, among them the following:

Nov. 23

Injured senior: 7:45 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters helped a senior citizen, gender not given, who had fallen as he or she stepped off a curb. When firefighters examined the man or woman, they discovered an open leg fracture and a possible hip injury. Once firefighters had finished providing basic and advanced life support care, King County Medic One transported the injured man or woman to Harborview Medical Center.

Nov. 24

Fire alarm: 4:23 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a fire alarm at the Auburn Justice Center, only to discover that someone had activated the alarm via a manual pull station. The assistant police chief vowed to review the lobby surveillance tape to find out who did the deed.

Nov. 25

Aid call: 4:34 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters examined and treated a patient in respiratory distress. The medic unit arrived and continued treatment with advanced life support measures. King County Medic One transported the patient to ARMC by in stable condition.

Nov. 26

Aid call: 3:35 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to somebody, gender not given, with respiratory difficulty possibly induced by a reaction to pain medication. Once firefighters evaluated the man, woman or child and determined that he or she was stable, family members transported him or her to ARMC.

Nov. 27

Aid call: 10:25 a.m., (Algona). Firefighters and King County Medic One units helped a man who was worried about how he was feeling after previous cardiac surgery. The medics transported him to St. Francis in Federal Way for further evaluation and testing.

Nov. 28

Aid call: 11:24 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters saw a male, age not specified, who claimed that a snake had bitten him. Firefighters found the male possibly under the influence of drugs and arranged for American Medical Response to transport him to ARMC for further evaluation.

Nov. 29

Aid call: 6:14 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a request by Auburn Police to examine a man in custody with possible injuries after he had dropped his motorcycle while turning. The person denied injury and said thanks but no thanks to that medical intervention.
