The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 159 calls for service between Jan. 25 and Jan. 31, among them the following:
Jan. 25
CPR: 8:20 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responding to an unconscious, unresponsive woman delivered two shocks to the patient’s heart, restoring her blood pressure and pulse before King County Medics arrived. King County Medics transported the woman to Auburn Regional Medical Center.
Jan. 26
Commercial fire: 10:20 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a commercial fire at 814 44th Street NW found an aluminum dust collector on fire and smoke throughout the building. Firefighters got in, put out the fire and ventilated the building. Firefighters turned the scene over to the South King Fire Investigation Task Force for investigation.
Jan. 27
Aid call: 3:40 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to the 800 block of Auburn Way North to a report of injuries from a fall found an elderly woman with facial cuts. Firefighters provided wound care, and a private auto transported the woman to the emergency room at ARMC.
Jan. 28
Aid call: 11:45 a.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters helped a child with a minor head injury that resulted from a fall from a building block toy at school. Firefighters determined that the child would be able to go home with his parents.
Jan. 29
Aid call: 11:17 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters examined and helped a girl who had dislocated her elbow in a fall during a gymnastics routine. Firefighters stabilized the girl’s arm, and her mother transported her to Children’s Hospital in Seattle.
Jan. 30
Motor vehicle accident: 2:15 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to the 1600 block of A Street Southeast for a two-car motor vehicle accident found one patient complaining of neck and back pain. Firefighters provided care and spinal immobilization, and American Medical Response transported the patient to ARMC.
Jan. 31
CPR: 8:48 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters helped an elderly man in an assisted care facility whom the facility staff had found unconscious and unresponsive. Firefighters and King County Medics aggressively treated the man with CPR and advanced life support procedures, and when he regained cardiac function, Medic 6 transported him to ARMC.
