The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 158 calls for service between Jan. 4 and Jan. 10, among them the following:
Jan. 4
Car accident: 5:30 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters arrived at the 900 block of Auburn Way South to find a small Honda literally wrapped around a utility pole. The driver walked away from the accident uninjured.
Jan. 5
Aid call: 12:29 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters arrived at Alpac Elementary to help the school nurse tend to a boy with a wrist injury. While firefighters were examining the boy, they found that he had severe pain and deformity to the left wrist, so they splinted the arm with a cardboard box.
Jan. 6
Aid call: 11:33 a.m., (Algona). Firefighters and King County Medics treated a senior citizen who was suffering from a diabetic problem and left him at the scene.
Jan. 7
Motor vehicle accident: (Auburn), 12:29 p.m. Firefighters and King County Medics responded to a high-speed, two-car accident on A Street Southeast. King County Medics transported the seriously injured parties to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.
Jan. 8
Aid call: 7:19 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters examined and helped a young man who was hit by a vehicle while walking to school. The boy was uninjured and released to his mother at the scene.
Jan. 9
Aid call: 12:37 p.m.(Auburn). Firefighters were called to help an elderly female complaining of a headache. Firefighters found the woman with suspected stroke symptoms and transported her to ARMC.
Jan. 10
Motorcycle accident: 5:39 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics treated a critically injured motorcyclist on Highway 18, east of Southeast 304th Street. Reports indicated the motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it hit a stalled vehicle parked off the side of the highway. King County Medic One transported the motorcyclist to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
