The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 201 calls for service between June 1 and June 7, among them the following:
June 1
Aid call: 2:35 p.m. (Auburn). A unit was dispatched along with a King County Medic to a medical clinic for a patient with breathing difficulties. Firefighters and paramedics examined the patient and subsequently transported the person to Auburn Regional Medical Center (ARMC) by American Medical Response (AMR) in stable condition.
June 2
Arcing power line: 9:48 a.m. (Pacific). Personnel were dispatched to a report of a garbage truck that struck a live power line. Engine 38 arrived to find the garbage truck in contact with the line and the driver still in the vehicle. Engine 38 instructed the driver to remain in the truck until Puget Sound Energy could secure the power. The driver stated he was running his route when the line came into contact with his truck causing a bright arcing. The driver sufferred no injuries.
June 3
Brush fire: 5:03 p.m. (Lea Hill). Engine 34 and Battalion 31 were dispatched to a brush fire at the 31200 block of 104 Avenue Southeast. VRFA personnel found a 15-foot-by-100-foot brush fire along the Green River. Firefighters extinguished the fire quickly with hand lines. There were no injuries and traffic was disrupted on 104th for approximately 45 minutes.
June 4
Structure fire: 3:37 p.m. (Auburn). VRFA, Kent and Federal Way units responded to a detached garage fire at the 300 block of “E” St. SE. Firefighters arrived to find arcing power lines blocking access to the fire. There were two garage units aflame, two homes severely threatened and sustaining damage from the garage fires. Firefighters contained and prevented further loss to homeowner’s belongings. There were no injuries to civilians. One firefighter was taken to ARMC for a minor injury and released.
June 5
Aid call: 10:30 a.m. (Auburn). Units were dispatched to a female who was experiencing labor pains. On arrival, VRFA personnel found the female laying in bed in active labor. Following treatment by firefighters, the patient was transported to ARMC by AMR.
June 6:
Aid call: 1:14 a.m. (Auburn). Personnel responded to the Muckleshoot Casino for a report of a female employee who had passed out while on-duty. After treatement by firefighters, the patient was transported to ARMC by private ambulance.
Difficulty breathing: 10:52 a.m. (Algona). Engine 38 and Medic 6 were dispatched for difficulty breathing. Engine 38 observed a male sitting on a chair on the front porch having trouble breathing. Medic 6 assisted the patient with a breathing treatment. The patient became agitated with the EMS crews on location, went in the house refusing any further treatment. The patient was left at home against medical advice.
June 7
Aid call: 1:16 p.m. (Algona). Units responded to a young female who had fallen. The patient was treated and stabilized for a possible seizure and then transported to ARMC by AMR.
