The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 145 calls for service between March 2 and March 7, among them the following:

March 2

Seizure: 4:01 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a child suffering a seizure by cooling him with a wet cloth and treating him with oxygen before arranging his transport to Auburn Regional Medical Center for further evaluation and treatment.

March 3

Motor vehicle collision: 8:35 a.m., (Auburn). Valley Com dispatched firefighters to a two-car collision in the roundabout in the 200 block of F Street Southeast. Firefighters treated one patient at the scene for minor injuries.

March 4

Vehicle Fire: 8 a.m., (Auburn). Valley Com dispatched firefighters to a report of a vehicle fire in north Auburn. On arrival, Engine 31 found the engine compartment of a four-door car fully involved in flames. Engine 31 safely snuffed out the fire and determined it was an accident.

March 5

Service aid: (Auburn). VRFA personnel proceeded to a report of a patient on home oxygen who needed help. The power to his home was out and his home oxygen unit wasn’t working. Engine 38 provided him with a full oxygen bottle and showed him how to work it.

March 6

CPR: (Auburn). Valley Com dispatched firefighters to a CPR in progress at the Muckleshoot Casino. Before they got there, Casino staff had already started CPR and administered a cardiac shock with an automated external defibrillator. Firefighters arrived and took over resuscitation efforts. King County Medic One treated the patient and transported him to Auburn Regional Medical Center in serious condition.

March 7

Smoke investigation: 7:45 a.m., (Pacific). A resident reported a large amount of smoke from a nearby back yard. VRFA units arrived to find no one home and a smoldering recreational fire in the back yard. The smoke that had been seen by a passer-by was caused when a plastic lawn chair blew into the coals. VRFA personnel removed what remained of the lawn chair and put out the fire.
