The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 163 calls for service between Oct. 19 and Oct. 25, among them the following:
Oct. 19
Car vs. pedestrian: 9:45 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters treated a man who had been in a verbal and physical fight in which somebody had hit him with a baseball bat and run him over with a car as they fled. The man sustained minor injuries to his arms and legs, and American Medical Response transported him in stable condition to Auburn Regional Medical Center (ARMC) for evaluation and treatment.
Oct. 20
Aid call: 11:49 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters administered an epinephrine injection to a patient, gender not given, who was having a life threatening allergic reaction. The person showed immediate relief. King County Medic 1 personnel examined and transported him or her to ARMC.
Oct. 21
Car vs. motorcycle: 6:52 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters helped a motorcycle rider, gender not given, who had lost control and collided with a Washington State Patrol car. He or she denied injury and refused transport to a medical facility so firefighters left him or her in the care of the WSP.
Oct. 22
Vehicle fire: 6:54 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters arrived in the Lakeland Hills area to find a mini-van fully engulfed in flames, so they quickly uncoiled a hose line to extinguish the fire. Firefighters ultimately called in the South King Fire Investigation Task Force to investigate the cause of the fire.
Oct. 23
Assault: 4:57 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responded to the 1900 block of A St. Southeast to help a man with a knife wound to his head and an additional laceration to the arm. Firefighters treated the man at the scene and an ambulance transported him to St. Francis Hospital.
Oct. 24
Fire alarm: 6:28 p.m., (Lea Hill). Valley Com dispatched firefighters to a report of a fire alarm at Green River Community College’s Lindbloom Student Center. When they got there they discovered that burned food had ignited a small fire on the grill in the kitchen. Kitchen staff had already activated the hood and duct extinguishing system and snuffed out the fire. The grill was not damaged.
Oct. 25
Aid call: 11:32 a.m., (Auburn). Firefighters were asked to come to the Auburn jail to help an inmate complaining of chest pain. The man had not been able to take his normal dosage of medicine while he was in jail. A patient exam determined that the man needed further evaluation, and a VR
