Firefighters respond to 5-car crash | Fire blotter

Between Aug. 10 and Aug. 16, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 294 calls for service, among them the following:

Aug. 10

Brush fire: 1:58 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a brush fire in the median on Highway 167 quickly stopped the flames from spreading, then overhauled and soaked the area to ensure the fire was genuinely out.

Aug. 11

Aid call: (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a 5-car accident found one injured and trapped person who was struck by a dump truck that had suffered brake fade while it was leaving Highway 18. Firefighters quickly got the trapped person out and AMR transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center (MAMC) for treatment. No other drivers were hurt.

Brush fire: 3:04 p.m., (Pacific). Firefighters responding to a brush fire in the southeast section of Pacific found a large brush fire that was burning north toward Pacific City Park. VRFA personnel and firefighters from Puget Sound RFA, Renton RFA, and Mountain View Fire and Rescue worked for about three hours to extinguish the fire. The Valley Regional Fire Authority investigator is trying to determine what started the conflagration. Nobody was hurt.

Aug. 12

Shooting: 9:14 p.m., (South Auburn). Firefighters treated a man with a gunshot wound to the upper chest, and King County Medics transported him to Harborview Medical Center.

Aug. 14

Aid call: 5:40 a.m., (Pacific). Firefighters were called to investigate a body covered in blood lying up against a building. They arrived to find a deceased man with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Firefighters left the scene to Pacific police to conduct further investigation.

Aid call: 1:54 p.m., (Lea Hill). Firefighters and King County Medics performing CPR on a middle-aged woman got her pulse back, and Medic 6 transported her to MAMC.

Aug. 15

Aid call: 9:15 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medics treated a man who had overdosed, and a VRFA aid car zipped him off to MAMC.

Aug. 16

Aid call: 1:38 p.m., (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated a female who was suffering seizures and an aid car transported her to MAMC.
