Between March 1 and March 7, the Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to 229 calls for service, among them the following:
March 1
Shooting: 9:07 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and paramedics responding to a man in his fifties with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the abdomen performed CPR, but were unable to revive him. Fire personnel then turned the scene over to the Auburn Police Department.
March 2
Wires down: 8 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to wires down at 40th Street Northeast and Auburn Way North found communication wires across a driveway, so they relayed the information to Comcast, put cones in front of the wires and returned to quarters in service.
Burning debris: 7:19 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to burning debris in a roadway extinguished a pile of burning sheets that someone had set on fire because of a disagreement.
March 3
Aid call: 2:57 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters examined a woman with heart palpitations, and a private ambulance hurried her to MAMC.
March 4
Stabbing: 10:49 a.m. (Auburn). Responding to a stabbing, firefighters, King County Medic One and Auburn police found a woman had been stabbed multiple times, so medical personnel treated her at the scene, and Airlift Northwest transported her to Harborview Medical Center.
Vehicle fire: 9:42 a.m. (Lea Hill). Responding to a car fire in a mobile home park, VRFA personnel arrived to find a car with significant fire involvement, which they quickly extinguished with minimal damage to surrounding vehicles. The VRFA Fire Marshal’s Office then worked with the Auburn Police Department to investigate a person they suspected of intentionally setting the fire.
March 5
Accident: 3:52 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to an accident at Auburn Way North and 8th Street Northeast arrived to find two passenger vehicles that had been involved in a head-on collision, and transported the occupants of both vehicles to MAMC with minor injuries.
March 7
Aid call: 2:51 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medic One evaluated a senior citizen who had possibly overdosed on prescription medications, and left him at home with family.
