The award winners are:

Award winners are selected using the State Board of Education Revised Achievement Index and are based on statewide assessment data for the three previous years. The award is given in seven categories: overall excellence, high progress, English language arts growth, math growth, extended graduation rate, English language acquisition and achievement gap.

Schools will be honored at an awards ceremony May 10 at Union Gap School.

Evergreen Heights takes another award

Evergreen Heights Elementary is the 2015 State Title I Part A Academic Achievement Award winner for significantly raising student achievement in reading through specific strategies.

The school won $10,000 to be used for professional development, team building, additional research and developing new strategies. The Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction chooses the recipients.

Evergreen Heights won a National Title I Distinguished School award in 2015 for closing the achievement gap in math.
