Child safety seats can save lives, but they need to be used properly to be effective. To support parents and caregivers in fitting their children securely in car seats, Public Health – Seattle & King County hosts a free child car seat check-up event in Auburn on Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Auburn Public Health Center is at 901 Auburn Way N.
Parents are urged to bring their car, car seat and child/infant to learn how to properly install the car seat.
Make an appointment or just drop by between the hours listed. For appointments, contact Angie Dire at 206-477-0584.
Parents and caregivers will have their child safety seat checked by a certified child safety seat technician for safe installation, and educational materials will be on hand. Soon-to-be parents and caregivers are welcome as well.
The Auburn event is one of many ongoing child safety seat check-up events in the Puget Sound area.
The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends keeping children up to two years old in rear facing seats or until they have reached the maximum height and weight limits of the car seat as allowed by the manufacturer.
