Garbage service recovery to begin today

Waste Management, one of the garbage haulers in Auburn, will begin recovery efforts today in Auburn for residential and commercial customers. Double and triple volume will be accepted.

Waste Management will be dedicating extra resources to Auburn during the week of Dec. 29 in order to pick up garbage in areas that have not been able to be serviced due to the weather. Some areas, such as Lakeland Hills, have not had a regular garbage pick up for two weeks.

In order to collect extra garbage and recyclables from residential customers during the week of Dec. 29, Waste Management will put all available trucks on the streets and will have extra drivers on the trucks to make collection go faster.

It is expected that commercial services (grocery stores, malls, restaurants, etc.) and multi-family collections will be fully caught up by Wednesday. According to Waste Management, staff spent much of the weekend working to clean up the area around multifamily containers to facilitate regular collection this week.

Due to limitations of driver hours, logistics and the extra volume of waste that is expected, the recovery effort will take several days to complete, but the waste hauler is confident that regular schedules will be regained by next week.
