Girl Scout receives top honor

Carley Scholter, a sophomore at Auburn High School, earned the Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest honor for a cadet.

Carley Scholter, a sophomore at Auburn High School, earned the Girl Scout Silver Award, the highest honor for a cadet.

Scholter, daughter of Paul and Tamie Scholter, was awarded for her work in tutoring, her community project of choice. She put in more than 50 hours, tutoring fellow classmates and student athletes in pre-algreba, algebra, geometry, science links and biology.

Scholter’s project work demonstrated leadership, personal growth, hard work and commitment to serving the community, according to the Girl Scouts of Western Washington.

In addition to her work in Girl Scouts, Scholter plays fastpitch and lacrosse and also is the manager for the school’s varsity soccer team.
