The City of Auburn will hold the grand opening of the birding tower at the Auburn Environmental Park at 2 p.m. on June 22.
City officials broke ground on the tower on Monday, Dec. 15, 2008 and construction is now complete, with the site restored and accessible to the public.
Made of wood, steel, and recycled materials, the tower consists of lower, intermediate, and upper platforms for viewing birds, wildlife, and Mt. Rainier on clear days. Visitors will access the intermediate and upper platforms via a gravel, ADA-accessible trail, and the lower ramp by a trail and 30-foot ramp.
A grant from the Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office.
made construction of the tower possible.
