Green River Community College’s Volunteer Employee Campaign is holding a silent auction on Friday, March 13 to support student scholarships and other programs.
The bidding begins at 9 a.m. and is scheduled to finish at 3 p.m. at the college’s welcome center on the main campus, 12401 SE 320th St.
Items range from baked goods to valuable collector items.
The campaign’s aim is to raise more than $70,000 to support scholarships and students who face financial emergencies that imperil academic progress. To achieve this, 60 Green River employees are volunteering their time to hold fundraising events, speak to their colleagues and coordinate activities through the GRCC Foundation’s Facebook page. The campaign chose Facebook to publish updates, photos and videos for this year’s drive because – in addition to raising funds – the campaign’s a valuable tool to unite Green River employees in challenging times.
The campaign concludes March 20.
A get-out-of-jail fundraiser on Wednesday already raised more than $6,000 in new gifts and commitments.
Next week, the campaign has several volunteer-driven events planned. Full-event details and photos from past events are on Facebook.
