Bill McCarthy, a photography student at Green River Community College, used a double-exposure approach to capture the essence of Memorial Day and the weekend – an image in tribute to those lost at war and those serving the country in the armed forces.
“The flag was taken in my back yard for a different project, and the headstones are from Tahoma National Cemetery,” McCarthy explained. “I wanted to do more that just double-stack two negatives together to make a picture. Well, the end result was more than I could have imagined.
“Here’s to all the men and women in uniform and to all who have given their lives for our freedom.”
