Commuters looking to drive on SR 169 this weekend should expect to add a few minutes to their trip, as the Green River Bridge will be closed.
According to the Washington State Department of Transportation Communications Consultant Mariah Johnson, the closure is for a planned repair of the bridge’s expansion joints. The bridge, also known as the Kummer Bridge will be closed starting at 9 p.m. Friday, April 14, to 5 a.m. Monday, April 17.
Johnson said the joint runs the length of the bridge, which necessitated both lanes being closed, and the cure takes a long time to set after the repairs are made, requiring the full weekend for the project.
She added that crews picked the weekend for the closure to affect as few work commuters as possible.
Suggested detours include:

■ Turn left on to SE 400th St
■ Turn right on to 212th Ave. SE (which turns into 212th Ave. SE)

■ Detour ends back at SR 169
