Green River Community College hosted its annual Gator Fest event on campus Saturday.

The festival dedicated the college’s new Cedar Hall building and featured a free pancake breakfast, the Roving Reptiles show, a car show, music from KGRG radio and vendors selling everything from barbecue to bees.

Dog Fest presented canine-friendly activities, contests, trails and vendors.

The community festival included more than 50 food, arts and crafts and commercial vendors.

Renamed Cedar Hall, the renovation of the building will improve student access, utilize modern technology and provide room for growth. Cedar Hall is designed to be energy and mechanically efficient and is being constructed to achieve a LEED Silver Rating with sustainable, durable materials.

Cedar Hall houses Natural Resources, the Math Learning Center and Early Childhood Education. Construction on the 29 year-old building began December 2011. The project cost a total of $19.5 million, of which $2.1 came from the college. The majority of funds came through state capital budget dollars.
