Stabbing
Auburn police responded on May 28 after receiving a report at approximately 6 a.m. regarding an assault with a weapon in the 1300 block of Elm Street Southeast. According to the department’s public information log, a man was stabbed near White Lake. The department’s log listed no suspects in the incident. Police collected pants, rags, and a shirt as evidence.
Exchange of gunfire
Auburn police responded on May 28 at approximately 3:30 a.m. to a shooting in the parking lot of Walmart at 762 Outlet Collection Way. According to the department, officers found a 53-year-old woman suffering from a single gunshot wound upon arrival. Initial investigation revealed two men, ages 19 and 21, approached the 53-year-old woman in her vehicle and tried to rob her. In response, the woman pulled out a firearm. The woman and one of the suspects exchanged gunfire. The woman received on-scene treatment for non-life threatening injuries. Following the incident, law enforcement initiated a K9 track. With the assistance of drones, a helicopter, and multiple agencies, law enforcement apprehended both suspects without further incident.
Aggravated assault
Auburn police responded on May 24 after receiving a report at approximately 2:11 p.m. regarding an aggravated assault in the 2800 block of Auburn Way North. According to the department’s public information log, police arrested a man in the incident on a felony charge of assault in the second degree. The assault served as a domestic violence incident, with the log listing one victim. The department listed an additional offense of felony harassment.
