Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to the following calls for service among many others between Dec. 9 and Dec. 15.
Dec. 9
Aid call: 11:54 a.m. (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics treated a senior citizen found unconscious at an intersection, then paramedics evaluated the man before a private ambulance whisked him off to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center’s emergency room.
Dec. 10
Automatic fire alarm: 8:14 a.m. (Lakeland Hills). Firefighters investigating a malfunctioning automatic fire alarm reported by a homeowner identified the culprit as an electrical problem. Personnel informed the homeowner that the smoke detectors were well past their expiration date, and replacing them would probably resolve the issue.
Dec. 11
Accident: 7:15 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a two-car accident near Muckleshoot Casino treated a woman who was complaining of neck and back pain. Personnel transported her to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
Dec. 12
Electrical fire: 9:41 a.m. (Lakeland Hills). Upon arrival at the scene of a reported chimney fire, firefighters identified an odor indicative of an electrical fire and quickly ruled out the chimney before determining the source was a dishwasher. Firefighters removed the dishwasher from the house and ensured the fire was fully extinguished. The damage was confined to the dishwasher.
Dec. 13
Aid call: 12:35 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters evaluated and treated a man who had suffered an accidental cut to his hand as he tried to open a box. A private ambulance transported the man to a local hospital.
Dec. 14
Injuries from a fall: 4:04 p.m. (Pacific). Firefighters responded to a request for aid and found a man on the ground in his backyard who had been cutting branches from a damaged tree and had fallen about 24 feet from a ladder. Firefighters evaluated and treated the man before a private ambulance hustled him to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further care.
Dec. 15
Elevator rescue: 2:37 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responding to a report of a person trapped in an elevator found that person and a dog stuck between the first and second floors of the building. Following elevator malfunction procedures, firefighters safely opened the elevator doors and helped human being and canine out. An elevator technician arrived shortly afterward to address the issue and perform any necessary repairs.
