Valley Regional Fire Authority investigators have determined that a shed fire in south Auburn late Friday afternoon is not suspicious in nature, although the exact cause remains undetermined at this time.
A couple and five dogs who lived in the home were able to return to the residence and stay safely with a working smoke alarm.
At approximately 4:41 p.m. Friday, children playing in the neighborhood spotted a shed on fire in the Skylark Village II Mobile Park and alerted the female resident. She escaped safely with her dogs. Her husband, who also lives in the residence was not home at the time of the fire.
VRFA firefighters arrived at 3105 M Street Southeast to find the shed fully involved in flames and spreading to one wall of an adjacent mobile home. They quickly extinguished the fire, limiting damage to the shed and a bedroom in the double-wide mobile home.
Two fire engines, one medical aid unit and one Battalion Chief responded to the fire.
