All of King County Solid Waste Division’s transfer stations are open and ready to take your garbage, recycling and yard waste.
It does accept garbage and recycling from hospitals, medical offices, schools, private residences, and from a number of other places where people could be sick with COVID-19 or another contagious illness.
But none of them will take untreated medical waste, so don’t do dump it in your garbage, especially now.
Experts at King County Public Health say they believe the virus spreads between people who are within about 6 feet of one another, or via respiratory droplets produced when an infected person coughs or sneezes.
King County Solid Waste has said it does not believe there is an elevated risk of COVID-19 to its employees, customers or commercial garbage and recycling haulers.
