Members of the Auburn VFW Post 1741 participated in the 61st anniversary of the Korean War armistice wreath-laying ceremony at the Washington State Korean War Veterans Memorial in Olympia on July 26.

The Forgotten War’s armistice was officially signed on July 27, 1953.

Local Korean War veterans Bob Newman (Navy), Larry Doll (Army) and John Pepper (Marine Corps) – with the VFW’s Mike Sepal – joined others at the ceremony.

Veterans received the Ambassador for Peace medal from the Patriots and Veterans Affairs of the Republic of Korea in recognition for their service in the war. Survivors of the Battle of Chosin Reservoir also attended.
