West Valley Highway from 15th Street Northwest to 37th Street Northwest was temporarily closed Wednesday because of a landslide, city officials reported.

The section of highway was later reopened as crews cleared the roadway and placed jersey barriers in front of the slide area as a precautionary measure.

King County road crews also are continuing efforts to clear a mudslide that blocks another portion of the highway.

Crews temporarily closed 58th Place South, also known as Algona Hill Road, owing to the mudslide that was caused by heavy rain two weeks ago.

Detours are posted for drivers until further notice.
