After over a year-long pause due to the pandemic, performing arts are coming back to Auburn this fall.
The Auburn Avenue Theater recently announced its fall 2021 schedule, which is jam-packed with music, comedy, theater and kids programming. The first live performance at the Auburn Avenue Theater will be “Little Women” at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 24, according to the theater’s website.
Jet City Improv will also resume performances at the theater beginning at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 15. Jet City Improv is the theater’s flagship show of 28 years. Experienced improv comedians work with the crowd and develop skits in real time, according to the theater’s website.
Other performances scheduled this fall include the “Rocky Horror Picture Show” on Oct. 29, and Seattle International Comedy Competition on Nov. 5.
You can buy tickets to performances at the theater through the BRAVO performing arts website. The theater is operating under current county and state public health guidelines, which could change.
In addition to the theater, the Auburn Symphony Orchestra will also be returning to the stage this fall with its first concert in 595 days.
The Auburn Symphony Orchestra will be performing a concert titled “A Triumphant Return” at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 3, at the Federal Way Performing Arts and Event Center.
Due to health and safety restrictions, the symphony won’t be performing at the Auburn Performing Arts Center in Auburn High School during the 2021-22 season.
For the season opener, award-winning pianist Anton Nel will perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s “Piano Concerto No. 21,” according to the symphony. You can buy tickets to the concert online at auburnsymphony.org.
The Auburn Symphony Orchestra is also searching for artists to create a t-shirt design that will be featured on Auburn Symphony Orchestra merchandise, according to their website. Artists can enter designs until the deadline of Oct. 22. The artist who creates the winning design will earn $500 for their work. Learn more about the design contest at auburnsymphony.org.
