The Federal Way and Auburn Boys and Girls Club and EX3 Teen Center held its annual Breakfast for Kids fundraiser at Emerald Downs this week, and raised nearly $70,000 for South King County programs.

Seattle Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon was the featured special guest speaker.

“It was a privilege to hear Lloyd speak about the positive impact the Boys and Girls club had on his life,” said King County Councilmember Pete von Reichbauer, the event’s honorary chair. “He has a real heart for kids and is invested in not only their success, but the success of programs we offer here in South King County.”

McClendon shared his experience at the Boys and Girls club as a youth in Indiana and credited the program for building the foundation of success that has carried him to the top of his profession.
