The Valley Regional Fire Authority responded to the following calls for service, among many others, between Dec. 16 and Dec. 22.
Dec. 16
Carbon monoxide alarm: 8:01 a.m. (Lea Hill). Firefighters responding to a carbon monoxide alarm activation in a single-family home learned from residents upon arrival that a vehicle running in a closed garage had triggered the alarm. Firefighters monitored the air throughout the home, but found no detectable levels of carbon monoxide remaining.
Dec. 17
Shooting: 8:40 a.m. (Auburn). Firefighters and King County Medic One paramedics responded to reports of multiple gunshots and treated one person for life-threatening injuries. After stabilizing the injured person, King County Medic One transported the person to Harborview Medical Center.
Dec. 18
Aid call: 5:47 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a female in the throes of a diabetic emergency and found her in stable condition, but in need of additional help, so Tri-Med Ambulance transported her and her mother to a local hospital.
Dec. 19
Service call: 4:35 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a report of a man who was locked in a coffee shop bathroom because of a malfunctioning lock. They used a wedge to relieve pressure on the locking mechanism, allowing the man to unlock the door from the inside. The coffee shop manager placed the bathroom out of service.
Aid call: 6:31 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident that had caused moderate damage to both vehicles, with one occupant reporting back pain. Personnel stabilized one person on scene before a private ambulance transported the person to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for further treatment.
Dec. 20
Aid call: 10:15 a.m. (Pacific). Firefighters responding to reports of an unconscious and unresponsive child found the child with a pulse, as the family had been performing life-saving measures via instruction from Valley Com while they waited for firefighters to arrive. Personnel and King County Medic One paramedics stabilized the child on scene, and King County Medic One transported the child to Seattle Children’s Hospital for further care.
Dec. 21
Accident: 2:50 p.m. (Auburn). Responding to a two-vehicle high-speed collision, firefighters and King County Medic One treated the occupants on scene and transported one of them to MultiCare Auburn Medical Center for continued care.
Dec. 22
Aid call: 2:20 p.m. (Auburn). Firefighters responded to an Auburn senior citizen suffering from a possible stroke who had been watching a football game when his family noticed he could no longer express his thoughts. Firefighters evaluated the man, and a private ambulance transported him to a local hospital.
